Events & happenings 2024

August

  • August 31 Baltic Sea Weekend. An annual celebration initiated by the Nurminen Foundation in honor of the sea. The aim of the day is to inspire people to enjoy our unique home sea and to take concrete actions and make promises for its benefit. In addition to celebration, the purpose of Baltic Sea Day is to raise awareness about the sea's diverse nature, culture, and history. The event offers enjoyable activities for the benefit of the Baltic Sea.

October

  • October 14-20 Dark Örö during Winter Break. Experience the magic of darkness again this October on Örö Fortress Island in the Archipelago Sea National Park! The snowless nature and the dark autumn sea are cloaked in darkness – only the stars shimmer in the autumn sky. During the week, you can confront your fear of darkness and perhaps leave that fear on the island. Most of the program is free, suitable for participants of all ages, and conducted safely. During Dark Örö, you can spend several days on the island or take a day trip. More information will be available in early autumn!

December

  • Örö's Quiet New Year 2024-2025. How about welcoming the New Year in the outer archipelago? You are warmly invited to enjoy the beauty of nature and the delicacies of Restaurant 12", whether alone or with family and friends. On Örö's trails, roads, and beaches, you can peacefully stroll with your furry friend, as we celebrate a traditional rocket-free New Year.

Restaurant 12" serves throughout the New Year weekend from morning to evening, offering drinks, meals, and snacks. The restaurant also acts as an information point where you can rent a bike and explore the Long and Short Grief roads. If your mind and body crave a gentle sauna experience, you can book a private sauna session at the Ranta or Hårdasnäset saunas either through our online store or, if available, on-site at Restaurant 12".
